They've started work on the trim, so the house is looking slightly less like an Easter Egg. Phew. Looks like they're getting ready to install all the interior doors, and all the cabinetry is now in place. They've also stained the stairs - here you can see most of the kitchen through the stair rails.

They've done a bit more painting this week, and graded the backyard. All our lovely weeds are now gone and we're left with this charming expanse of dirt. Inside, they've been doing a lot of painting as well, although I decided not to bore you with shots of the newly painted baseboards and molding. Instead, I'll give you a shot of our stairs. They installed the banister and the railing this week.

In our continuing effort to spend even more money on the house, this past week we had Fun With Crown Molding. It's already been added to the dining room, and we matched the mantel of the downstairs fireplace with the molding above it. The master bedroom will *get* molding...just as soon as they can get a smaller version (it didn't fit - heh). But in the meantime, I'm giving you a sneak preview of not only the molding, but also the marble that will surround the master bedroom fireplace as well. The interior is mostly painted now, and they've started on the exterior. We're still working on what color the trim will actually be, but you can get a sense of how it will look (sans trim) both front and back (just a note - the windows look all blurry because they're coated in plastic. It has nothing to do with my ability as a photographer (or distinct lack thereof)). That pretty rose color you see on the gables is called "Painted Lady", and the buttery yellow is "Covington Cream". I only mention these nitpicky details because I knew you were all dying to know. Really you were. Trust me on this one.

Thanks to some gorgeous weather, they were able to finish all the siding. Here, you can see that they've finished the chimney as well. The front door won't arrive til April 1st, so that'll remain a big gaping hole for a while. All the sheet rock is done, and you can finally see what the fireplaces will look like - upstairs and downstairs. We're thinking we may just leave the house as it is now - the color scheme (with all the pictures scribbled by the sheet rock guy) is really quite lovely, don't you think?
